Index Holmiensis is a world-covering index to distribution maps of
vascular plants that was founded in 1969 by Hans Tralau at the Swedish
Museum of Natural History. Scientific publications from all parts of
the world are systematically scanned by an international team of
specialists. The index gives full bibliographic references to
published distribution maps - local, regional or world-wide - of
vascular plant taxa from family level and below, but mainly at the
species level.
In recent years there has been an enormous increase
in the number of published distribution maps.
Vol. 6 (Dicotyledoneae D-F) lists publications containing maps
of 10,500 taxa, of which the genus Eucalyptus is the largest
one with 679 mapped taxa. In this genus more than 260 species were
mapped for the first time.
Vol. 7 ( Dicotyledoneae G-J) lists publications containing maps of
12,100 taxa of which more than 450 taxa have been mapped for the
first time.
Vol. 8 (Dicotyledoneae K-M) lists publications containing maps of
13,181 taxa of which 635 taxa have been mapped for the first time
during the last few years.
Vol. 9 (Dicotyledoneae N-P) lists publications containing maps of
17,822 taxa of which 667 taxa have been mapped for the first time
during the last few years.
