If all fields are searched simultaneously, it can be performed in various ways:

  • More than word.
    Write: "word1" and "word2".
    Example: Ethiopia and Abyssinia.

  • Either one of two words.
    Write: "word1" or "word2".
    Example: Ethiopia or Abyssinia.

  • A plant name combined with two alternative spellings of locality.
    Write: "Name" and ("word1" or "word2").
    Example: Bidens and (Ethiopia or Abyssinia).

  • Truncated words.
    Write: "Name" and ("word1*" or "word2*").
    Example: Bidens and (Eth* or Abyss*).

  • Phrases.
    Write words between single quotes when searching combinations that includes a "-".
    Examples: 'G-5000' (herbarium number), 'Peddie-East London' (locality), 'Milne-Redhead' (collector).
